Electronic Strike Installation
An electronic strike is fitted into the door frame in place of the fixed strike plate, then wired in so it can release the door latch on command. The video below shows one of our technicians installing an electronic strike on a door frame.

How an electronic strike works
An electronic strike replaces the fixed strike plate on the door frame that the latch normally rests against. When it is locked, the latch is held in place and the door stays shut. When the strike is triggered, usually by an access control system, intercom or push button, it releases the latch so the door can be pushed open without turning the handle. Because the strike sits in the frame rather than in the door itself, the existing door hardware stays largely unchanged and the wiring runs through the frame. Getting the alignment and the cut-out right is what keeps the door closing cleanly afterwards, which is the detail demonstrated in the video above.
