A Complete Alarm System for Your Home

A home security system is a set of devices that detect intruders, alert you and, if you have monitoring, notify a response centre. Access Alarms designs and installs full home alarm packages for houses, townhouses and apartments across Brisbane and South East Queensland.

We size each system to the property. A three-bedroom house needs different coverage to a two-storey home with a granny flat. We walk through the building with you, identify the weak points and spec the right sensors for each one.

What a Home Alarm Package Includes

Every home security system we install is built from these core components:

  • A main alarm panel that acts as the brain of the system
  • Door and window sensors on entry points
  • Passive infrared (PIR) motion detectors in main living areas
  • A siren to alert neighbours and deter intruders
  • A keypad at the front door for arming and disarming
  • A backup battery so the system keeps running during a power cut

Depending on your property, we may also recommend glass break detectors, outdoor beam sensors or a duress button.

How You Control Your System

You have a few ways to arm and disarm. The simplest is the keypad by your front door. Enter your PIN when you leave and again when you get home.

Most systems we install also support a key fob. It works like a car remote. One button to arm, one to disarm.

If you want full control from your phone, we can connect your alarm to an app. You can arm it remotely, check whether you left it on, get push alerts if it triggers and review event history. That is handy when you are at work, on holiday or just cannot remember if you set it before leaving.

Brands We Install

Access Alarms works with trusted alarm brands including Bosch, Hills, Paradox and Tecom. These are professional-grade systems built for long-term reliability. We do not install consumer-grade smart home gear.

For alarm monitoring, we connect compatible systems to the Pocket Secure monitoring platform. You can read more on our alarm monitoring page.

Protecting Entry Points and High-Risk Areas

The most common entry points for break-ins are front doors, back doors, sliding glass doors and ground-floor windows. We put sensors on all of these by default.

Internal motion sensors cover hallways and main living spaces. If an intruder gets past the perimeter, the motion detector picks them up before they reach the bedrooms.

We can also add CCTV cameras and intercom systems to work alongside your alarm, giving you a full picture of what is happening at your property.

Installation and Handover

We run cables neatly through the roof and walls where possible. The install is clean and the equipment sits flush against walls and door frames. Once the system is in, we test every sensor and zone, then walk you through how to use it. No jargon. We just show you what to press and when.

If you already have an older system, we can often upgrade the panel and add new sensors without rewiring the whole house. Ask us about that when you request a quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sensors does a typical home alarm need?
Most Brisbane homes can be fully protected with fewer than five sensors. We cover the routes to your valuables rather than every door and window. Open-plan homes sometimes need as few as three.
Can I arm and disarm my alarm from my phone?
Yes. Any alarm connected to GPRS monitoring can be controlled through a free smartphone app. You can arm, disarm and check the status of your system from anywhere.
What happens if the power goes out?
All alarm systems we install have battery backup. The system keeps running during a power outage and the monitoring centre is notified if the power stays off for an extended period.
Do you install alarms in apartments and townhouses?
Yes. We install alarm systems in all types of residential properties including apartments, townhouses and units. The system is designed around your specific layout.
How long does an alarm installation take?
A standard home alarm installation usually takes half a day. Larger homes or commercial properties may take a full day or more depending on the number of sensors and the complexity of the wiring.
