Intercom Systems for Homes and Apartments
An intercom system lets you speak to whoever is at your front door or gate before you open it. Access Alarms installs intercom systems for houses, apartments, townhouse complexes and gated driveways across Brisbane and South East Queensland.
Whether you want a simple audio unit by the front door or a video intercom connected to your phone, we can spec and install the right system for your property.
Audio vs Video Intercoms
Audio-only intercoms are the simpler option. You hear the visitor and speak to them through a wall panel. These suit lower-budget installs or properties where you just need a basic call point at a gate or door.
Video intercoms add a camera so you can see who is there. You get a clear view of the person at the door before deciding whether to let them in. Most of the systems we install today are video, since the price difference is small and the added visibility is worth it.
App-Connected Intercoms
Modern intercom systems can connect to your home network and push a notification to your phone when someone presses the button at the door. You answer from your phone, see the video feed and unlock the door remotely if needed.
This works when you are in the backyard, upstairs, or not home at all. A parcel driver can be told where to leave the package without you having to walk to the door. A visitor can be let in while you are still at work.
We install app-connected intercoms from brands including Hikvision and Dahua. Setup and handover is included with every install.
Front Door Intercoms
A front door intercom is the most common residential install. A flush-mounted call point goes next to the door outside. Inside, a monitor unit lets you see and speak to the visitor. You can release the door lock from the monitor or via the app.
We can integrate the intercom with an electric strike or magnetic lock on the door if you want remote-release capability. This is common for apartments and homes where the front gate is away from the main entrance.
Gate and Driveway Intercoms
If your property has a front gate or a driveway with a barrier, an intercom at the gate means you can screen visitors before they reach the front door. We install weatherproof call points on gate posts and connect them to the indoor monitor or your phone.
Gate intercoms can also be linked to automatic gate openers if you have one or want to add one.
Apartment Intercoms
For apartments, we install systems at the building entry that allow residents to receive calls at their individual unit. Visitors select the unit from a directory panel at the lobby door. The resident answers on a handset or via the app and buzzes the visitor in.
We work with body corporate managers and building owners to spec the right system for the number of units and the building layout.
Intercoms work well alongside alarm systems and CCTV cameras as part of a full home security setup. You can also read more about our intercom systems service.
